“I hate slick and pretty things. I prefer mistakes and accidents. Which is why I like things like cuts and bruises - they're like little flowers. I've always said that if you have a name for something, like 'cut' or 'bruise,' people will automatically be disturbed by it. But when you see the same thing in nature, and you don't know what it is, it can be very beautiful.” David Lynch
Commissioned photography for Adnams Brewery advertising. On the back of a change of brand positioning from ‘Adnams – beer from the coast’ to ‘Adnams – Southwold’, I was commissioned to capture the unique heritage and charm of this Suffolk coastal town. Casting and locations were arranged on the spur of the moment, helping to give a feeling of spontaneity. The photography was used as a building block in the new advertising, website, POS and brand guidelines.
Photography and video feature spanning an English summer. From schools and village greens to grand old stately homes, the fete is the very essence of England. Full of colour, eccentricity, home-baking and raffle prizes; tea with two sugars and a vase with an elephant design bought on the spur of the moment.
Commissioned photography for JWT at The Cannes Lions, the world’s biggest annual awards show and festival for professionals in the creative communications industry. I shot on location in Cannes, using small model figures of famous advertising creative directors such as Mark Tutsel and Craig Davis. Headline concept ‘Big ideas can make anyone feel small’ and art direction by Andy Smith at JWT.
Commissioned photography for Nissan via TBWA Advertising, for a pan-European poster, print and digital campaign for the Nissan Micra ‘In sync with the city’. I shot a complete ‘alphabet’ of abstract city images, each depicting a different letter. The images were used to create headlines across the advertising and supporting communications.
